Taxonomy Identification: Family Scarabaeidae, First named by D’Orbigny in 1902.
Colour: Prothorax iridescent green, elytra tan brown with ridges of green.
Size: Length 10-12.5mm
Comments & Applications: A small but beautiful member of the scarab family, a specialist species for the serious collector. The male beetle has a large horn, this is absent in female. Recorded from moist savanna in East Africa, larvae feed on dung. Ideal for closeup macro photography or taxonomy
