Taxonomy Identification: Family Zygaenidae. First named by Doubleday in 1847
Colour: Topside (recto) dark brown to black, forewings scattered with white/blue spots. Toward the wing centre are red and blue spots, the hind-wing margin is broad coloured blue or white often with zig-zag markings. The (verso) underside is similar but with more spots. Highly variable between specimens.
Size: Wingspan 70-80mm
Comments & Applications: A spectacular day flying burnet moth, rarely offered for sale. Stunning colouration like a night sky with twinkling stars and blue glow!
