Taxonomy Identification: Family Saturniidae, First named by Hubner 1807
Colour: Sexually dimorphic, males are pale greenish yellow with pink streaks on the tails. The female is coloured similar but bulkier with less sharply defined tails. Both sexes have “moon” shape eye markings on each wing. Underside coloured similar to the topside.
Size: Wingspan 100-150mm – Trailing tails in both sexes from 100-150mm.
