Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Bates in 1867.
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are various colours of brown with mustard yellow and a think band of white. The underside (verso) is a mixture of browns, black, orange,and silvery white that form an amazing pattern.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
Comments & Applications: These small to medium-sized butterflies are known colloquially as “Sisters”due to the white bands that look like a nun’s habit. This one is commonly known as the Cecropia sister, and are found in South America. Can be used in framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
