Taxonomy Identification: Family Danaidae, first named by Butler in 1869
Colour: (Topside) Wings have a base colour of black with vivid white patches. Underside (verso) is similar but paler with a reddish brown tinge.
Size: Wingspan 60-70mm
Comments & Applications: A species from the Danaidae or Milkweed family of butterflies found in sub-saharan Africa. An unusual species, not often offered for sale popular among collectors and an ideal butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
