Taxonomy Identification: Family Zygaenidae. First named by Drury in 1773
Colour: Topside (recto) dark brown to black, forewings scattered with white/blue spots and vivid reddish brown veins. The hind-wing margin is broad coloured blue with white spots. The (verso) underside is black with tiny blue, white and odd red spots.
Size: Wingspan 70-80mm
Comments & Applications: A spectacular day flying burnet moth, rarely offered for sale. Stunning colouration like a night sky with twinkling stars and blue glow! This species has prominent reddish brown veins on the forewings. A sought after collectable also very popular among framers, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film industry
