Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are dark brown/black with small white spots and scarlet bar/patch. The intensity of colour varies between specimens. The underside (verso) is paler, brown and pale orange.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
