Taxonomy Identification: Family, Nymphalidae, First named by Fabricius in 1793
Colour: The base colour of the topside (recto) wings is black with a white bar across all four wings, white spots on the forewing apex and red spots on the hind-wings. The underside (verso) wings are similar but much paler.
Size: Wingspan 40-55mm
Comments & Applications: A widespread butterfly across the central neotropical region, commonly called the Banded Peacock butterfly. A favourite with collectors and rarely offered for sale. Perfect for high end applications creating unique connoisseur pieces.
