Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae. First named by Guenée in 1852
Colour: The overall topside (recto) colour is dark brown with fine black lines. The underside wings (verso) are similar but paler with a hue or purple.
Size: Wingspan 100-110mm
Comments & Applications: This large impressive moth, seldom offered for sale. A popular species with collectors and the insect trade, for design applications, entomology, craft, taxidermy. Commonly known as snouted tigers.
