Taxonomy Identification: Family Saturniidae, First named by Boisduval, in 1833
Colour: Topside (recto) sandy brown with white stripes. Hind-wing has reddish bars often bright pink when fresh. All wings have eye like markings, much larger on hind wings. Underside (verso) darker with eye markings on the forewings only. Extremely variable colours.
Size: Wingspan 95-115mm
