Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: A sexually dimorphic butterfly. The female is white with grey-black wingtips and black eye spot. Hind-wings are white with grey patches. The male is white with vivid orange tips edged in black with black eye spot. Hind-wings like the female are also white mottled with grey. The underside (verso) hind-wings of both sexes carries a eye catching mottled green design.
Size: Wingspan 38-52mm
