Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae, first named by Fabricius in 1875
Colour: (Topside) Wings have a base colour of white with black forewing tips and black spotted margin on hind-wing. At the centre of the forewings near the thorax is a bright orange-yellow patch. Underside (verso) is similar but paler, the black colouration of the wing tips turning grey.
Size: Wingspan 60-70mm
Comments & Applications: A very pretty pieridae butterfly from Central African Republic with white and black. Commonly called the Calypso white butterfly. A popular butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
