Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are jet black with iridescent blue markings. Underside (verso) is olive ochre with fine black lines and twin black spots on forewing margin, hind-wing has row of faint reddish spots.
Size: Wingspan 90-105mm
Comments & Applications: A large spectacular blue butterfly, commonly called the One Spotted Prepona. Not be be confused with Archaeoprepona demophoon. This is a more common species used in butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film
