Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae > Aganainae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: The topside (recto) forewings are greyish black with long white jagged stripes on the forewings and ovalish white patches on the hindwings. Underside wings (verso) similar but paler. Extremely variable with many sub-species.
Size: Wingspan 45-55mm
Comments & Applications: This is an attractive moth, a popular species with collectors and the insect trade, for design applications, entomology, craft, taxidermy. Commonly known as snouted tigers.
