Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Fabricius in 1793.
Colour: Sexually dimorphic, males are a dark orange-brown with black markings; Females are brown with pale yellowish markings. The underside wings on both sexes is pale sandy brown.
Size: Wingspan 55-75mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly called the Absolon Forester butterfly. A nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
