Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hewitson in 1865
Colour: The female wings are brown with iridescent blue bar on hindwing and orange bar on forewing; males are dark brown with orange bar on forewing. The underside wings are olive coloured with white bar.
Size: Wingspan males 65+mm – Females 65-85mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly called the Fantasia butterfly, inhabiting dense forest. Seldom offered for sale, a nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
