Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hewitson in 1865.
Colour: The female wings vary in colour from blue to brown depending on location, with a orange bar on the forewing and white apex. Males are coloured dark reddish brown with black markings. The underside wings on both sexes is olive brown with a prominent white spot.
Size: Wingspan Male 55-60 – Female 65-85mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly called the White-spot Forester butterfly. Rarely offered for sale, a nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
