Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Aurivillius in 1892
Colour: The female wings are pale reddish brown with black wing tips etched with white patches; males are similar but with deeper reddish brown. The underside wings are various shades of pale brown.
Size: Wingspan males 55-65mm – Females 65-85mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly called the Plistonax Forester butterfly, inhabiting dense forest. Rarely offered for sale, a nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
