Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Aurivillius in 1893.
Colour: The female hindwing is reddish brown with a black forewing patterned with blue and white markings. Males are coloured dark reddish brown with black markings. The underside wings on both sexes is olive brown with a prominent white spot.
Size: Wingspan Male 55-60 – Female 65-85mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly called Staudinger’s Forester butterfly. Rarely offered for sale, a nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
