Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hewitson in 1866.

Colour:  Sexually dimorphic, males are golden brown with black markings. Females are reddish brown with black markings and blueish hue on apex of forewing. The underside wings are pale brown.

Size: Wingspan 60-85mm

Comments & Applications: A butterfly of dense forest habitat. Commonly called the Hewitson’s forester butterfly. Rarely offered for sale, a nice collectors species and also useful for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
