Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Odonota, first named by Selys in 1859

Colour: Head and body black. Wings semi-transparent with blackish-brown wing tips.

Size: Wingspan 70-80+mm

Comments & Applications:  A larger than average damselfly with black wing tips.  Damselfly are very popular among the art and craft industry, photography, framing, interior design, film, entertainment and educational purposes

Important note before purchase: Damselflies are very fragile insects. During the drying process legs, head and abdomens become very brittle. Body parts are prone to separate especially during the rehydration process. This is a common issue which necessitates various degrees of repair. We recommend PVA glue for repair. In some cases, a nylon rod is pushed through the thorax down into the abdomen to help secure the insect.
