Taxonomy Identification: Family Lycaenidae. First named by Butler 1897
Colour: A dark brown butterfly with white and black checkered wing margin. The underside is a mix of intricate grey-brown and white patterns.
Size: Wingspan 24-29 mm

The butterfly was first introduced to Europe in the late 20th century, where it has quickly spread to many southern and eastern European regions. A small brown but attractive species with delicate tails on the hind-wings and amazingly detailed underside.
