Taxonomy Identification: Family, Nymphalidae, First named by Doubleday & Westwood, in 1847.
Colour: The base colour of the topside (recto) wings are black with a red bar on the fore-wings. The underside (verso) forewing is red, black and pale brown while the verso hindwing is much “busier” with black lines a row of pearl white and pale blue spots.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
