Taxonomy Identification: Family, Nymphalidae, First named by Doubleday & Hewitson, in 1847
Colour: The base colour of the topside (recto) wings is black with thick red bars on the forewing and a red patch on the hind. The underside (verso) forewing is similar but with twin orange bars and pale outer line. The verso hindwing is much “busier” with pale yellowish brown lines splashed with dashes and lines of blue.
Size: Wingspan 43-48mm
