Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae, First named by Donovan in 1805.
Colour: Highly variable between sub-species. General colour of the topside wings is black with white markings. The underside (verso) is also variable, yellow hind-wings and black/white forewings.
Size: Wingspan 45-50mm
