Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Godart in 1824
Colour: (Topside) Wings are a lovely ochre yellow with orangey brown and dark brown, with green veins which form a beautiful pattern. This charaxes has the lovely double tails. (Underside) has lovely tones of pale brown with lemon a little green and white that form a lovely pattern.
Size: Wingspan 70-80mm
Comments & Applications: Known as the green-veined emperor charaxes. A very pretty nymphalidae butterfly from Central African Republic. A popular butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
