Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Aurivillius in 1891
Colour: (Topside) The inner half of the wings is white. Outside the white area the wings are orange to brown, with a pattern of lighter and darker flecks. The underside of the wings mimics a dead leaf.
Size: Wingspan 85-95mm
Comments & Applications: A large butterfly one of the more unusual charaxes butterflies from Central African Republic, commonly known as the Pearl charaxes due to the pearl-white patch on the forewing. A popular butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
