Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Crammer in 1775
Colour: Topside (recto) wings of this butterfly is brownish-orange with wide dark brown-black outer margin. The underside (verso) wings are intricately patterned with various eye blue-red spots.
Size: Wingspan 70-80mm
Comments & Applications: Known as the Common black-bordered charaxes butterfly. A popular species used in the trade for butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film. One of the less common species.
