Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Grose-Smith in 1883.

Colour: Topside (recto)A Blackish with a blue band and spots. This species has no tails. Underside (verso) beautifully patterned in different shades of brown.

Size: Wingspan 55-65mm

Comments & Applications: Known as the Porthos Untailed Charaxes butterfly. A popular species used in the trade for butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.

Format: Unmounted, papered, wings folded, requires relaxing and setting
