Taxonomy Identification: Family, Satyrinae, First named by Weymer in 1910
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are clear with pale brown veins with pink patch or blush on the male hindwings and one large black eyelet. Underside (verso) similar but paler. Females duller.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
Comments & Applications: One of the many clearwing butterflies of Central and South America, commonly known as the Pink Phantom butterfly. Captive bred fresh specimens, becoming hard to obtain. Very popular with the trade for frames domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film
