Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Satyridae. First named by Linnaeus, in 1761

Colour: A brownish-orange butterfly with distinctive broad white band on the underside band lined with eyelet markings.

Size: Wingspan 34-36 mm

Comments & Applications:  An attractive and widespread species across Europe, absent from Britain. Found in roadside meadows, clearings and open places from low to high altitudes.
