Taxonomy Identification: Family Satyridae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Box sexes are similar in colour. Topside (recto) wings are pale sandy yellow-brown with a tiny black eye spot at the apex of the forewing. Hind-wing has a pale cream patch. All topside wings have a greenish-grey edge. Underside (verso) forewings are tan orange with larger single eye spot at apex. Underside hind-wings variable, normally greyish-green / brown with cream markings.
Size: Wingspan 30-36 mm
