Taxonomy Identification: Family Buprestidae, first named by Castelnau in 1838
Colour: Head and legs dark almost black with iridescent green and reddish bronze elytra.
Size: Length measuring from the tip of head/jaws to end of abdomen but excluding legs: 24-36mm
Comments & Applications: This is a most beautiful coloured Beetle, curiously teardrop shaped with almost pointed elytra. Very popular with the trade for use in framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
Format: Unmounted, papered, requires relaxing and setting
