Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, Named by Guérin-Méneville, 1844
Colour: Colouration topside (recto) black metallic blue-green bar. The underside (verso) hind-wings are pale grey-white with intricate black pencil-line patterns forming rings, while the forewings and black and red.
Size: Wingspan 40-45mm
Comments & Applications: A wide ranging species found throughout the Neotropical region. Commonly called Anna’s eighty-eight butterfly. Always a popular species because of its vibrant colouration and amazing figure of eight pattern.
