Taxonomy Identification: Ithmomiidae, Named by Hubner in 1823
Colour: A extremely variable butterfly across its range. The overall colouration presents the butterfly with clear wings, brownish-black veins. The underside is similar but with buff-red patches on the hind-wings and margin of small white spots.
Size: Wingspan 55-65mm
Comments & Applications: A common and widespread South American species but seldom offered from Argentina. Part of the “clearwing” family of butterflies, very dainty and attractive. A useful species for framing where geographical uniqueness is key. Always popular among entomology collectors, artist and for photography.
Format: Male. Unmounted, papered, wings folded, requires relaxing and setting
