Taxonomy Identification: Family Heliconiinae, first named by Geyer in 1837

Colour: (Topside) A pale brownish-black butterfly with brownish-orange bars and faint yellow patches, parts of the wings are transparent. The underside of the wings are similar but paler.

Size: Wingspan 70-80mm
