Taxonomy Identification: Family Geometridae. First named by Cramer in 1780
Colour: The topside (recto) base colour of the male forewings is black with white almost transparent patches, while the hindwing is black with a large white patch and bright orange margin. The abdomen is black with horizontal yellow lines. Underside (verso) similar but paler. The female carries similar features but the base colour is yellowish grey rather than black.
Size: Wingspan 75-90mm
Comments & Applications: A stunning black and white day flying moth with striking orange margin, often mistaken for a butterfly. Commonly known as False tigers, this is a particularly rare dysphania species, a must have collectable.
