Taxonomy Identification: Family Meloidae. was first named by Thomas 1893
Colour: Reddish brown base colour with darker black central longitudinal line on elytra.
Size: Length measuring from the tip of the head/jaw to the end of the abdomen (excluding legs and antenna) 35-45mm
Comments & Applications: A member of the Meloidae family of Blister beetles. So named for their defensive secretion of a blistering agent, cantharidin. One of the more unusual collectable species available. Also useful in framing, taxidermy domes, artwork, and educational applications.
Format: Unmounted, papered, requires relaxing and setting
