Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Linnaeus, in 1763
Colour: Sexually dimorphic. Male topside (recto) forewings are dark blackish-blue with blue tips, hind-wings have a reddish brown edge. Female topside (recto) brown base colour with reddish-orange stripes and white wing tips/spots on border. Underside brown with various lighter patterning and pale white tip. Highly variable species.
Size: Wingspan 60-70mm
