Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758.
Colour: The topside (recto) forewings in the male are brown with large eyelets, white surround and white spots on all four wings. The male underside is mostly brown with white spots. The female is more colourful with thick white bars running across all four wings and likewise the underside has white bars.
Size: Wingspan 90-110mm
Comments & Applications: This is a huge and rarely offered moth from Ambon with amazing owl like pattern. The perfect show piece, use in art, craft and design applications, bespoke frames.
