Taxonomy Identification: Family Diptera, sub-family Syrphidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758

Colour: Head, thorax and abdomen dark brown, with pale buff bar. Legs brown/black.

Size: Body-head length 13-15mm, Wingspan 15mm
