Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hecq, 1978
Colour: Topside (recto) wings black with large orange patch and white bar at wing apex. Topside hind-wing orange edged in black with a row of white spots. The underside (verso) base colour varies from buff to reddish olive brown. The forewing has a white bar at the apex, male examples have three or more black spots near the thorax. The verso hind-wing has a row of white marginal spots edged in black.
Size: Wingspan 70-90mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful orange African butterfly not often offered for sale. A rare collectable species and also popular for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
