Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hecq, 1974
Colour: Topside (recto) wings black with dark blue patches and pale yellow bar on forewing. The underside (verso) base colour varies from buff to orange brown. Vivid blush-pink patch. Underside forewing has a yellowish-cream bar at the apex, while the hind-wing has a row of black marginal u-shape black spots.
Size: Wingspan 85-100mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful African butterfly not often offered for sale. A rare collectable species and also popular for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
