Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Hecq in 2001.
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are black with large reddish-orange patches and white marginal spots, white streak on forewing tip. The underside (verso) is pale orange-brown with similar markings to the topside.
Size: Wingspan 60-70mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful and scarce butterfly from subsaharan Africa inhabiting forests. Euphaedra are sought after collectors species and also popular for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
