Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by
Colour: Topside (recto) wings black with dark blue patches a golden yellow bar on forewing apex, white tips. The underside (verso) base colour varies from buff to dark green. Blush-pink patch, variable from bright to pale. Verso edged with large marginal black spots. Forewing with white bar.
Size: Wingspan 85-100mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful African butterfly not often offered for sale. Commonly called the Janetta Themis Forester. A rare collectable species and also popular for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
