Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Schaller in 1785.
Colour: Female Topside (recto) Wings are dark brown with a slight hew of blue. The underside (verso) is a mixture of light and dark browns with a little white. Males are more purple blue on the topside.
Please Note: These butterflies are highly variable.
Size: Wingspan 100-130mm.
