Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae, First named by Boisduval 1836
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are white with three black diagonal parallel stripes. The other half of the upper wings is black, crossed by two thin white stripes. The hind-wings are white, with black markings on the lower margin. The underside (verso) is similar, but the white is partially greenish.
Size: Wingspan 85-100mm
Comments & Applications: A huge and impressive species with incredible long tails to each wing. English common name: Giant Swordtail. Very popular collectors species. Used in science, education, butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film applications.
