Taxonomy Identification: Family Heliconiinae, first named by Neustetter in 1909,
Colour: (Topside) A black butterfly with vivid red bar on the forewing and yellow bar on hindwing. The underside of the wings are similar but paler. Extremely variable.
Note: This subspecies has striated reddish orange lines on hindwing, yellow patch on forewing edged in red.
Size: Wingspan 50-65mm
