Taxonomy Identification: Family Heliconiinae, first identified by Stoll in 1781
Colour: Topside (recto) wings black with red, white and yellow patches. The underside (verso) is similar but with white dotted edge.
Size: Wingspan 70-85mm
Comments & Applications: The beautiful longwing butterfly, a rare subspecies. Popular with the trade for butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
