Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Heliconiinae, First named by Stichel in 1906

Colour: Topside (recto) edged in black getting progressively more bluish-black toward the centre. Each forewing has two vivid yellow angular bars. The underside (verso) is black with paler yellow bars and several small red spots near the base of hind-wing.

Size: Wingspan 60-70mm

Comments & Applications: This delicate butterfly is commonly known as the Sara long-wing butterfly. Ethically sourced captive-bred specimens. Popular with the trade for butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design, film and general educational purposes.
